On 14 May 2008 the Head of the ChRI Government Akhmed Zakaev chaired a meeting of his cabinet members in London.
The participants of the meeting included the ChRI Minister of Foreign Affairs Usman Ferzauli, the ChRI Minister for Information, Media and Communications Ilyas Musaev, the ChRI Minister of State Yaragi Abdullaev, the ChRI Prosecutor General Isa Munaev, Director of ‘Chechnya Peace Forum’ and the ChRI Honorary Consul in Norway Ivar Amundsen and the ChRI Honorary Consul in Poland Adam Borovsky.
The meeting’s participants discussed the political and military situation in Chechnya as well as the need for the Chechen state to step up its foreign policy initiatives. The Head of the Chechen state Chairman of the ChRI Parliament Zhalaudin Saralyapov maintained telephone communication with the participants throughout the meeting.
The Head of the ChRI Government Akhmed Zakaev proposed to put on the agenda the provision of material and technical support to members of the ChRI Resistance Movement. A. Zakaev pointed out that the majority of the Chechen commanders and field commanders expressed their full support for the political course of the ChRI Government and Parliament, protecting the constitutional foundations of the Chechen state.
In the meantime, Head of the ChRI Ministry of Foreign Affairs U.Ferzauli proposed a list of foreign nationals, public and political figures, who had applied to be granted the Chechen citizenship, to be discussed at the meeting. After a brief discussion the meeting’s participants took a unanimous decision to request that the Parliament grant Chechen citizenship to the aforementioned people who have made a considerable contribution to the cause of the ChRI national liberation movement.
The Minister for Information, Media and Communications Ilyas Musaev who spoke next stressed the need to bring together all the information resources in order to safeguard the ChRI state interests and its constitutional basis. According to Musaev with Allah’s help one can clearly distinguish today between those who truly feel and ache for their people and those who use religious rhetoric in order to cast doubt on the goals and tasks of the Chechen people in its many centuries of fighting for its liberation from Russia.
The next speaker the ChRI Prosecutor General Isa Munaev stressed the need to gather incriminating evidence in order to start criminal proceedings against the organisers and executors of the provocative ‘Emirate’ plan who have tried to destroy the Chechen state in the most treacherous way. According to Isa Munaev the Office of the ChRI Prosecutor General would nip in the bud any attempt by the Chechen people’s enemies to use every method to undermine the foundations of the Chechen state.
The ChRI Minister of State Yaragi Abdullaev informed the meeting’s participants about the results of his working visits to several European and Asian countries and emphasized the importance of furthering such contacts. The working meeting in London concluded with setting the date of the next meeting.
