Two teenagers have been killed after throwing a grenade into a fire in Russia's southern region of Chechnya.
"Sixteen-year-old teenagers found a VOG-25 grenade ... which they put in fire and it exploded. As a result of their injuries, they died immediately," Itar-Tass news agency reported today, quoting a local source.
Chechnya has been relatively calm in recent years after Russia sent in troops twice in 1994 and 1999 to put down separatist rebellions.
Despite some rebuilding, unexploded ordnance and landmines are scattered across the region, aid workers say.
